Basketball
Drop in and play a game of basketball with your friends and neighbors. Everyone is welcome. Pick up games of 3 on 3 played on half court until May. Mondays and Thursdays, 5:00-7pm. Location: Gym. No fee.
Billiards
Casual pick up games. All abilities may participate. All homeowners are invited. Monday – Friday, 12-3pm. Open to all homeowners. Location: Billiards Room. Free.
Trivia Night
Join fellow homeowners for an informal night of trivia on Saturday nights at 7pm in the Parlor. These nights are just for fun. Bring a beverage and settle in with your friends.
Bingo
Friday night bingo is now a cash only event loaded with all CASH PRIZES! This is unique at Oak Point because no other fun filled night can be paid in cash and depending on how lucky you are, you can walk away with some pretty big cash prizes. The cost for playing is $10.00 per person. Bingo players must pay by 6:45pm in order to count the cash with games starting at 7pm. Join us! It’s fun!
Bocce
There will be a meeting on April 24th at 10:00 AM in the Back of the Ballroom to sign up and determine your playing time preferences. Games are played Monday through Thursday in the mornings and early evenings at the Oak Point courts. It is not necessary to have played previously. Couples may play as a team or you may choose a different partner before hand. If you have no partner you may get one at the meeting. The idea is to meet new people and have fun. Rules will be available at the meeting. The season ends in August when the playoffs begin. The cost is $10.00 per person. This includes prize money & end of season cookout on the last Saturday in August. Last year’s teams can keep their times or days if they wish. Last season’s schedules will be posted on the Bocce Bulletin Board.
Bowling For Men
This is not a team. Play just for fun. Teams are made up of those who come each week. Thursday, 9:00am-12pm. Location: Alley Cat Lanes, Kingston.Meet at the lanes before 9am. Fee: Lane and equipment rental.
Bridge
Contract Bridge following Goren’s Rules. Each pair of partners plays against another pair. Start with 13 cards, sort into suits and bid on your hand. Fosters teamwork, concentration and skill with numbers. Thursday, 1-4pm. Location: Club Room. No Fee.
Cribbage
Cribbage for all abilities. We will start at 6:45pm. Please be there by 6:40pm so we can assign seating and pass out cards. Please bring any cribbage boards you can. Mondays, 7pm in the Clubroom.
Double Deck Pinochle
Come join us for an informal game of double deck pinochle. No experience necessary, we’ll show you how to play. All comers are welcome. Cards are provided. We play for fun. Tuesdays, 7pm. Location: the Parlor.
Horseshoes Group
Meet your friends & neighbors at the horseshoe pits, in front of the tennis courts, for a friendly game. The number of people in attendance on any given day will determine whether the games will be played with partners or individually. Both men and women of all abilities are welcome. Tuesdays at 6pm. Location: Horseshoe Pits. No Fee. Starts June 8th.
Mahjong
Try this intricate game of skill, concentration and luck. Each player starts with 13 patterned tiles. Try to form a predetermined pattern with the tiles in your tray. The first to finish a pattern wins. Tuesday, 7-10pm and Friday, 1-4pm. Location: Library on Tues. Club Room on Fri. Fee: $2 per day.
Oak Point Golf League
Golfers meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Back Nine Golf Course in Lakeville. All applications should be in by April 1st. Applications are at the clubhouse if you need one. Our first league meeting will be Monday May 3, at 7:PM.up at the Clubhouse Ballroom. All golfers from Monday and Tuesday night leagues should attend for updates, directions and league rules. The League starts May 11 and 12 thru Sept. 13 and 14th. Our Banquet will be September 27th.
Oak Point Hiking Club
The Oak Point Hiking Club meets on the last Saturday of each month at 10am in the parking lot of the Clubhouse Ballroom. There is a schedule of monthly walks for the entire season. We have a lot of great trails to hike in our area including the Pratt Farm Reserve, Massasoit State Park, Myles Standish State Park and Blue Hills Reservation to name just a few. Pick up your trail map & directions from the group leaders, Lyn & Ed White prior to the hike.
Dominoes
Wednesday at 1pm in the Library. Come play dominoes for fun. This is an informal group who get together weekly for pick up games. Games are made up from those who attend. All abilities are welcome. No fee and no sign up required.
Oh Bleep!
This is an informal group that meets to play an easy and fun card game invented by homeowner, Ed White. Oh Bleep is a game that anyone can play and everyone will love. Wednesday at 1pm in the Club Room. All ability levels are welcome. Rules will be made available. Homeowner sponsored, no fee.
Poker
Join the gang for an informal hand of cards. This is a new group starting and all players are welcome. Thursday, 5:30pm. Clubroom. Free.

This poker group meets once per month on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm. New members are welcome. Clubroom. Free.
Monthly Poker Game
Texas Hold’Em. Open to new players. Meets on the second Monday of each month at 6pm in the Back of the Ballroom. Free for homeowners.
Scat Card Game
Learn to play this easy game of 31 in an evening. Receive 3 cards and try to reach 31 points. Lots of fun. Tuesday, 7-9pm. Location: Craft Room. No Fee.
Scrabble Group
Come play scrabble with a like-minded group of homeowners. The group meets every Wednesday at 2 to 4pm in the Game Room of the Clubhouse. No sign up required, just come and play.
Tennis Group
The group accommodates all who attend. If you are a new player, you can just attend. Attached to the fence of our two tennis courts is a bulletin board where we post additional information. You can pick up a list of the players there. Saturdays, 8:30am (weather permitting). Location: Tennis courts. No Fee.
Women’s Pool League
Spring and fall leagues available. Please sign up on the sign up sheet at the Clubhouse. The teams and schedule will be posted at the beginning of the league season. 2 person teams will be set up and the schedule will depend on the number of players. If you would like to play, but not commit to playing every week, you can sign up as an alternate. If you have not played before, but would like to try it we will have lessons at a time to be announced later.
Artist’s Association
Calling all Oak Point Artists for a meeting of the minds. Monthly meetings for our artists to join together are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 3pm in the Back of the Ballroom to share tips, provide support and share a generally good time. The group has participated in several shows, sponsored speakers to address their meetings and offered demos. All welcome. Homeowner sponsored, free.
Book Club
Enjoy this spirited discussion on the book of the month. Books are selected by popular choice for each month. Includes fiction and nonfiction. Books are available for purchase at each meeting for the next discussion. Refreshments. Last Monday of each month, 7-8:30pm. Location: Library. No Fee.
Busy Hands
The Busy Hands Group welcomes all new and experienced knitters, crocheters or embroiderers. Bring your own project and supplies and join the group. A nice chance to chat with other crafters or learn a new skill. Tuesday, 1-3pm. Location: Library. No Fee.
Ceramics
No prior experience required. A different project each week. Choose from holiday, seasonal or garden pre-fired figurines. Pick your colors, and then learn a variety of techniques for finishes. Brushes included. Monday, 2-4pm or 6:30-8:30pm. Location: Craft Room. Fee: $5 per class plus materials. Pay as you go.
Computer Club
The Computer Club meets the first Monday of each month in the back of the Ballroom at 7pm. We have a huge range of computer literacy here at Oak Point. Some are emailing and ebaying on a regular basis and others haven’t got that far yet. The Computer Club will benefit all levels. Those who know their way around the keyboard are invited to have fun sharing information and embracing their inner “geek.” Those who are new to computers are invited to learn how to get started and what computers could do for them. Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild
Join other Oak Point quilters to work on your own projects as well as working on club blocks which each member receives each month to form their own club quilt. Monthly meetings include programs, refreshments, recycle (give & take) fabric table. Keep up to date on area quilt shows and receive club discounts at area shops. Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm in the Club Room. Show & Tell meetings on the last Saturday of each month at 9am in the Craft Room.
Decorative Arts With Janet
Learn to paint on wood, glass, metal and candles. Trace any pattern onto plaques, vases, birdhouses or the object of your choice. Paint stroke technique is taught in class. Starter kit of paints, brushes & tools of the trade available for an additional fee. Beginners: Tuesday, 1-3:30pm. Advanced Beginners: Thursday, 9:30am-12pm. Or 7-9:30pm. Location: Craft Room. Fee: $6 plus materials per project. Pay as you go.
Drama Club
The Oak Point Drama Club performs in the spring & fall. Positions will be available for the next production (for actor/actress, set designer/builder, costume designer/maker or light/sound person.) All abilities welcome. No experience needed. Watch the bulletin boards for sign up nights. Thursdays, 7pm. Location: Ballroom. No Fee.
French Club
The French Club meets once a month on the third Thursday, at 3:00 pm in the Back of the Ballroom. We talk only in French and the topics are usually about French culture. Our aim is to practice talking French so we don’t forget the language. We also meet once a month for lunch or dinner in Cape Cod to talk in French about anything. Free to all who are comfortable speaking French.
Genealogy Club
Monthly on the third Monday of each month at 7pm in the Game Room. Come learn how to research your family’s history. The group will share experience and insight about the research process. Find out where your ancestors were from, what they did for a living and what type of life they lived. This makes a great gift to pass down to your children. Free for homeowners.
Green Team
Meets on alternate months and takes place on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm in the back of the Ballroom. Check the newsletter for dates. Come help our Facility Management become more earth friendly. The first meeting will cover recycling and how we can restart this on a large scale. Meetings are open to all Oak Point homeowners who would like to help keep Oak Point “Green.”
Investment Club
The main purpose of the club is to educate its members about stocks, bonds and the stock market. Members pay a monthly fee, which is invested. The club often buys very speculative, low priced stocks. They have beaten the Dow continuously. Come have fun learning and spending money. First Wednesday of each month, 7pm. Location: Library. Fee: New members: Initial Investment: $100; a one-time administrative fee: $25, and $35 for the current monthly meeting’s investment dues, with subsequent monthly dues of $35.
Japanese Bunka Embroidery
Now you have the opportunity to learn this beautiful form of embroidery. Classes will be available here at Oak Point on Wednesdays in the Craft Room from 1-3pm. Lessons are $7 plus the kit and accessories. Japanese embroidery is done with a punch embroidery needle and silk embroidery thread. Each kit comes with a picture, instructions, thread and printed material.
Oak Point Garden Club
The Oak Point Garden Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Ballroom, March through Dec. The club is open to anyone who is interested in gardening, flower arranging or container gardening. All abilities are welcome. Meetings include speakers, workshops & social activities. Annual dues is $20.
Oak Point Paws Pet Club
The purpose of the club is to be a friend to any dog in need. Specifically, to assist area shelters and organizations in providing food, shelter, toys and other necessities to animals in distress. If this sounds like something you would like to do, then come join us. Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Craft Room unless otherwise listed.
The Oak Point Veterans Association G.W. “Bill” Durnin Post
The Oak Point Veterans’ Association was formed to recognize the military service of the men and women of Oak Point and to provide information from local, state and federal veteran’s agencies to the members of the association pertaining to service benefits and entitlements. We also provide an opportunity for Oak Point veterans to plan and execute observances of patriotic holidays. We are proud of our active Honor Guard which participates in over 30 events during the year.
Oil Painting Workshop
A workshop style class on painting with oils and acrylics. Homeowner and artist, Sheila Dilulis will be offering a workshop where participants can bring whatever projects they are working on or start their own individual strokes. Learn the basics or improve your projects under her guidance. Classes are ongoing. Class meets Thursdays at 2pm in the Craft Room.
Quilting With Judy
Open for beginner to advanced quilters. Work on ongoing projects such as lap quilts and wall hangings, as well as individual projects designed to teach a specific skill. Bring your own sewing machine. Wednesday, 9-11am. Location: Craft Room. Fee: $6 per class. Pay as you go.
The Red Hat Society Of Oak Point
Our Group is open to all Ladies residing at Oak Point. Our dues are only $12 a year and we have lots of fun times together so please join us. Some our events include dinners, fashion shows, trips and so much more! We have a “Queen Bee” who leads our club and keeps things lively and fun yet organized. Scrapbooking Workshop
This is a casual group where we work on our individual photo albums and share ideas. We have access to the services of Louise Bertelli from Creative Memories. She is willing to present evening sessions on occasion giving beginner lessons or presenting new products, doing border workshops, giving page ideas, etc. according to our interests. Work on your albums during our cropping sessions. Bring your own projects and supplies. Fridays, 9am-12 noon. Free for homeowners. Location: Craftroom.
State Rep Office Hours At Oak Point
State Representative Thomas Calter holds monthly office hours at Oak Point. His objective is to make himself available to the Oak Point residents in order to provide high level constituent service. He is interested in hearing from residents on ways to better serve them. Rep. Calter will be available the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 6:30pm in the Oak Point Library.
The Women’s Club At Oak Point
Founded in 2001, our aim is to provide socialization, education and information on resources within the Middleboro area. Our primary goal is community outreach. We accomplish this with a variety of fund raising activities throughout the year. We donate the funds and our time to various charitable and civic organizations in Middleboro. Meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month at 10:00AM in the Ballroom. All Oak Point women are invited to participate
Oak Point Victory Garden 2010
The victory garden sign up sheet for 2010 will be posted on April 1st on the bulletin board across from the Social Directors’ office. As always spaces for the garden will be on a first come basis.
Water Color Painting Class
Homeowner, Tony Freeman, will be teaching this class. No experience necessary. If you have always wanted to try painting, this is the place for you. The instructor will provide a list of supplies to purchase. Beginners: Tuesdays, 9am to 10:30am. Advanced Beginners: Tuesdays, 10:30am-12pm. Fee: $40 for an 8-week session.
Travel Club
Join us for lively chats and opportunities to expand your travel resources. Travel Club’s purpose includes increased connectivity among homeowners to share what it takes to have great travel experiences. Club activities include day trips, ‘arm chair’ travel talks, speakers and plans for national and international trips. The Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Back of the Ballroom. Free for homeowners.
Come Sing Karaoke
On the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Ballroom, Oak Pointers become Frank Sinatra, Big Bopper and Connie Francis. You get the idea! It’s all about fun and entertainment. The night is hosted by our favorite Karaoke Guy and homeowner, Kent Corson. Sing by yourself, with a group or support with your applause. Performers will be rewarded with a raffle ticket for the end of the night prize drawing. Bring your own beverages and snacks. Free.
Wine Club
Come join Bill from Muckey’s Liquors for a fun and educational evening. There will be wine to sample and discussion on different types of wine and how wine is made. If you have questions about wine, this is the place to find the answers. The club will meet once per month on the third Wednesday of each month. at 7pm in the Ballroom.
Aqua Aerobics
Aqua Aerobics is a moderate exercise routine held in the pool. Water resistance helps burn calories and improves muscle strength. The water cushions your body and reduces any impact that can stress joints and bones. Aqua Aerobics is a good work out that is good for your body in every respect. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30am. Location: Indoor Pool. Homeowner run, no fee.
Bike Riding
A serious group of bikers. You don’t need a fancy bike, but you do need endurance. The group covers 15 miles with some stops to rest. Sunday, 7:30-9am.(weather permitting). Location: Meet at 3002 Oak Point Drive. No Fee.
Cardio Exercise Class with Marie
For all fitness levels. Increase joint mobility and enhance muscle tone. Exercises focus on endurance, strengthening and flexibility. Do Cardio exercises, stretching exercises and use weights. It’s a great way to get in shape and feel good. Tuesdays & Thursdays. The class is at 11am and costs $5, pay as you go. Location: Gym.
Cardio Fitness Class
Come try this alternative to the tread- mills. The class meets Friday mornings at 8:30 am in the gym. Join instructor, John Murray, as he helps you to stretch out, then get your heart rate moving. If you’re tired of the same old workout, then come spice things up with John’s fun fitness class. The fee is $5 per class.
Grandchildren’s Swim
Children are welcome in the pools daily from 9am to 12 noon. As always, guests must be accompanied by a homeowner. Please be sure your little ones are on their best behavior. No running, diving or excessive splashing. Children must be at least 4 years old and no longer wearing diapers to swim.
Healing Moves Chair Yoga
You can do more than take your medication. Take control and improve your health. You are invited to participate in a yoga class focused on health needs. You will be guided through postures designed to assist and improve movement and health limitations. Parkinson’s disease – physical activity and therapy can alleviate some symptoms. The more the body and mind are active, and work together, the more successful treatments are for patients. Yoga works to unify the mind, body, and spirit and effectively contributes to symptom management. Heart disease – a study, published in Journal of The Association of Physicians of India (JAPI), establishes the reversibility of heart disease through yoga. Asthma – the regular practice of yoga for asthma helps combat attacks and studies show definite health benefits. Arthritis – studies indicate promising results with improvement in joint health, physical functioning, and mental/emotional well-being. Insomnia – sleep deprivation depresses the immune system, increases irritability, and slows reaction time, even worse, a recent study confirmed that losing sleep actually accelerates the aging process. The class will be held on Thursdays at 6:30pm in the Indoor Pool Room. (YOU WILL NOT BE GOING IN THE WATER). Fee: $8 per class. Pay as you go.
Line Dancing Classes
Paul Merola offers line dancing classes for beginners & intermediates to advanced. No partners required. Join Paul to learn the classic line dances and be ready for that next big party. All homeowners are welcome. Intermediate/Advanced: Fridays 10:30am – 12pm. Beginners: Saturdays from 10:30 to 12pm. Location: the Gym. Fee: $5 per class. New session begins in May.
Country Line Dancing
Join instructor, Margret Wilson for some fun with a country twist. Learn the moves to all your favorite country dances, like “Cotton Eye Joe” and the “Boot Scoot Boogie.” Classes will be ongoing, join anytime. Beginners and refreshers are welcome. The fee will be $5 per person per class, pay as you go. Fridays, 6:30pm in the Gym.
Pilates Classes
Small Ball Pilates classes are held at 9am on Tuesdays in the Gym. Benefits include core stabilization, increase abdominal & back strength, build muscles targeting abs, hips, thighs and buttocks, increase flexibility & improve balance. This class will use small exercise balls as a tool to perform Pilates exercises. Instructor: John Murray. Fee $5 per class, pay as you go.
Square Dancing
Square dance is a low impact activity that helps keep your body in shape. New studies have shown that square dancing can actually add ten years to your life. It combines all the positive aspects of intense physical exercise with none of the negative elements. And it’s fun. The instructor is Dave Perrault, who is an experienced caller and instructor. Wednesdays at 7pm. Location: Gym. Fee: $5 per person, pay as you go.
Tai Chi
Beginner students are taught forms that are sequences of flowing pre-arranged movements very much like dance routines. These are done slowly without any strain or tension. Tai Chi promotes balance, coordination and strength through gradual learning. It is also a “load bearing” exercise. This type of exercise assists the body in using calcium for the formation of bone mass. Continued practice of Tai Chi can improve bone strength. Tuesday, 6pm. Fee: $6. Pay as you go.
Posture Alignment Exercise
Tuesdays at 7 PM. Limit : 20 people. Come for the Tai Chi class at 6pm, and your $6 drop-in fee will cover both classes. Or pay $6 for just the posture alignment class. Bring a yoga mat. Classes are 45-50 min. Your body is energized by motion & is designed to move. With the feet pointing straight, the joints of the ankle, knee, hip and shoulder are meant to be in a straight line, one on top of each other. If the joints are not in line it is a postural imbalance resulting in stiffness & pain. These imbalances can be corrected by posture alignment exercises using gravity or the weight of one’s body to hold the body in a certain position. The muscles affected are slowly allowed to adjust to accommodate this position. These simple exercises are not done with the effort or strength normally associated with heavy activity, but are done in a relaxed manner, without extreme effort and within the limits of range of motion.
Tap Dancing
Join homeowner and tap instructor, Linda Leverault for dance classes on Thursdays at 3pm in the Gym. Classes will be ongoing, join anytime. Beginners and refreshers are welcome. The fee will be $5 per person per class, pay as you go.
Treading
Treadmill walking incentive program. Register with the Social Department at any time. Receive your Personal Record Card. Keep track of the miles you walk on the treadmills in our Health Center. When you reach 100 miles, turn in your record card for an “I Walked 100 Miles at Oak Point” T-shirt. Walk at your convenience. Fee: $10.
Yogalates
Yogalates is yoga and Pilates joined at the hip. Yoga, an eastern Indian tradition, focuses on strength, flexibility and balance and Pilates, created by German-born Joseph Pilates, focuses on building strength in the deep muscles of the abdominal region and the body’s core. Enhance inward and outward health at any age; a simple step by step approach proves it’s never too late to improve flexibility, muscle strength and balance with gentle yoga postures and Pilates unique focus to support core strength. Chair postures many be used for beginners. Saturdays,10:00 – 11:30. Wear comfortable loose fitting clothing. Mats are available or bring you own – some bring a blanket and pillow for comfort during the cool-down. Location: Club Room. Cost: $8 per class (pay as you go).
Zumba Dance Classes
Mondays, at noon in the Gym with instructor Marcela Mello. This Latin dance-exercise routine sizzles with fun as you burn calories. Marcela is a veteran Zumba instructor and has a wide following at several other locations. She is experienced in both Zumba aerobic exercises & other Latin Dances. Fee: $5 per class, pay as you go.
Blood Pressure Clinics
Have your blood pressure checked by one of the Brockton Visiting Nurses’ staff. This will be a monthly program which will take place on the last Tuesday of each month at 3pm, in the Club Room. Free for homeowners.
Cancer Support Group
This is a joyful, caring, supportive group for any woman whose life has been touched by cancer. Meetings are held every two weeks in the privacy of member’s homes.
Firesiders
The Firesiders are a group of single female homeowners who gather together once per month in the Parlor or at the Pool in good weather, to share a bite to eat, the warmth of a fire in the fireplace and some company. All are welcome. Bring a plate to share. The group meets the third Sunday of each month at 2pm.
Singles Club
The Singles Club is open to all Oak Point men and women who would like to make new connections and improve their social lives. Group meeting are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm in the back of the Ballroom. Outings and activities will be planned at the meetings. Don’t be shy, come mingle with us.
Personal Training
Certified Personal Trainer, certified physical therapist and homeowner, John Murray is offering one on one instruction here in our fitness room. Safe and effective workouts. He will design a program for you that focuses on your needs. Choose from cardiovascular fitness, strength & flexibility, balance or core strengthening (abdominal & spinal exercises). Or combine any of the above. Fee: $15 per hour with a recommendation of up to 4 sessions.
